Stellar FAQ
Q: How do I get a serial number for a new installation?
A: Contact Weyerhaeuser Software Support. They will be able to either create a new serial number or they will submit the request to the appropriate Weyerhaeuser associate if necessary.
Q: What information do I need to connect to an existing Stellar database and where do I find it?
A: From a machine already connected and working, look at the Stellar login screen. Note the version of the software from the splash screen. Write down both the database server information shown as well as the database name. Install the Stellar client, at the same version as the installed Stellar database. Contact Weyerhaeuser Software Support if you need assistance in determining this information or locating the correct installation file. Please be aware that your site’s IT representative may need to be included in the call.
Q: I cannot connect to my remote database. What things should I check?
A: Make sure the SQL Server machine where the database is installed is powered up, and that the SQL Server Browser service is running. Some networks require the machine hosting the Stellar database to establish Inbound Rules to allow the connection; please check with your IT support if you are unsure.
Q: What are the recommended system requirements for hosting the Stellar client software? What are the recommended system requirements for hosting the Stellar database?
A: This PDF document details the requirements and recommendations for running Stellar.
Q: How often should we archive old jobs? Is it based on volume or age?
A: The archive feature is accessible on the computer hosting the Stellar database, via the Weyerhaeuser Application Utility. The more volume a site produces, the more frequently Weyerhaeuser recommends a site to archive their database. However, any jobs that were created with dates prior to the Archive date will no longer be visible or accessible to users via the Stellar client software. Contact Software Support for assistance in accessing archived jobs.
Q: Does Weyerhaeuser have recommendations for how often to run SQL Server database maintenance?
A: If you notice lags in performance, the SQL Server database maintenance functions should be executed.
Q: What’s my username and password? How do I get that information?
A: Every installation of Stellar contains a built-in username and password, with administrative rights. Using that account, additional accounts can be created as needed. UserName: “Default User”; Password: “abc123”.
Q: How do I backup and upload my database?
A: This PDF document has the steps to complete this process.
